Ambulance service is provides by Whitfield Emergency Medical Service: 911.
AUTOMOBILE TAGS:
Automobile tags must be purchased within 30 days. New residents are required to bring
title or registration and lien-holders name and address, insurance card, last tag receipt,
and name and address of lender if the vehicle is financed, to the Whitfield County Tax
Commissioner's Office located in the Whitfield County Courthouse: (706) 275-7505
DRIVER'S LICENSES:
Driver's Licenses can be obtained from the Department of Public Safety between 9:00am and
4:15pm Wednesday through Friday. Licenses can be renewed between 9:00am and 4:30pm
Wednesday through Friday: (706) 272-2272 or (706) 272-2388.
UTILITIES:
Utilities are supplied by three companies. Electricity is supplied to the City of Dalton
by Dalton Utilities. Whitfield County received its power from wither North Georgia EMC or
Georgia Power Company. Dalton Utilities also supplies gas, water and sewage to the area.

SCHOOL REGISTRATION:
School Registration takes place either at the neighborhood school or at the Administration
Building. Parents are required to bring students' birth certificates, health records and

GOVERNMENT:
The Government in Whitfield County is made up of a five-member Board of Commissioners who
serve four-year terms. The City of Dalton is governed by a majoy and four council members
who serve four-year terms. Whitfield County Board of Commissioners: (706) 275-7500. Dalton

HOUSING:
Housing offered in Dalton gives you the opportunity to choose from charming older homes
with distinguished southern architecture, ultra-modern homes, or quaint, airy country
homes with hometown-style front porches. Local real estate agencies and homebuilders will
be happy to assist you. After you 911 had time to look around, you'll notice that Dalton's
housing market offers excellent homes at a fair market value. For those who are not quite
ready for a house, Dalton and Whitfield County also have a plentiful supply of apartments.
