Transportation means easy access in Whitfield County. I-75 connects Atlanta and Chattanooga, and has five interchanges in Whitfield County. Two US highways, US 41 and US 76, serve the county as well. The Dalton-Whitfield area has embarked upon a vast and far-reaching road construction program. With the affirmative vote of the people, a special sales tax was approved enabling the construction of a throughfare system that should serve our needs into the next century.

In 1990, Dalton's Parks and Recreation Department was recognized by the Georgia Parks and Recreation Society with its prestigious Best In State award. Dalton has operated a model recreation system since 1956.
The Creative Arts Guild, The Dalton-Whitfield Commission for the Arts, is the oldest local community arts agency in the State of Georgia. Dalton Little Theater, for over 120 years, has presented top quality plays and musicals for the Dalton community.
